1.) What is Vinyl Rail made of?
The basic ingredient is polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with impact
modifiers and high levels of titanium dioxide which prevents
ultraviolet degradation.
2.) Will it turn yellow?
Not at all. Our products contain high levels of titanium dioxide
which prevents ultraviolet degradation.
3.) How does it hold up in hot or cold weather?
It is normal for vinyl to expand and contract during temperature
changes. In cold weather vinyl will become less flexible, but with
our impact modifiers used no breakage will occur unless subjected to
unusual high impact. In hot weather it will maintain it's rigidity.
4.) How strong is it?
It has been engineered and tested to meet or exceed IBC, IRC,
BOCA, and ICBO building code requirements.
5.) Will it burn?
It does not readily ignite, nor does it sustain combustion once the source of
ignition is removed. PVC has a flash point of 716 degrees. It is categorized as
being self-extinguishing.
6.) How do I clean it?
Normally a damp cloth is all that is needed. For more stubborn dirt, you can use
a power washer or use chlorine bleach. Never use PVC cleaner, this will melt PVC!
7.) How does PVC compare to wood, aluminum and steel?
Never rust, never splinter, never needs painting, never chips and is chemically engineered
to avoid yellowing. Compare this to splintering, chipping cracking and continually painting or treating
wood. Steel will dent and rust. No product needs less maintenance than vinyl rail.
8.) Does your product come in any colors
other than white?
Yes, but you must call 1-800-525-6049 for a quote on our Tan products.
9.) Do I have to install a wooden post
inside your vinyl posts?
That is entirely up to you. Our vinyl posts were designed with the
whole railing system in mind. They provide a very sturdy mounting
surface to attach your railing to. Some customers have pre-existing
wooden posts that they will "sleeve" with our vinyl post.
Either way the posts are very sturdy when installed with one of our
available mounting kits.
10.) What is the value of the powder coated aluminum rail to AAMA2604?
The AAMA2604 is a high quality paint specification so that you can be assured of getting a long life expectancy from the product. This is a paint specification that exceeds most fence powder coating. This is also why we can offer the AAM2604 quality with a lifetime warranty that meets these requirements. |
