| 1.) When determining what vinyl railing product to buy, you
should look for a product that is manufactured as a single extrusion
with thick walls, is 100% virgin vinyl, and has a high level
of titanium dioxide to prevent the product from yellowing. VinylRailDepot.com products
meet this criteria. Our lifetime warranty protects our products from
yellowing, peeling, rot, ground insects,
splitting, corrosion, flaking, rusting, blistering, and manufacturing
defects.
For our tan products we offer a 20 year warranty.
2.) Now that you know some of the things to look for
concerning the quality of a Vinyl Railing product, you now
need to know where you are going to be installing your new
maintenance free rail. Our rail
kits come in lengths of 6, 8, and 10 feet and are all 36 inches
high. You need to know how wide your openings are before you can
determine what length rail you need. It is a good idea to take all
of the necessary measurements before making that decision. Keep in
mind that you can cut the rail down to accommodate widths that are
more narrow than your rail kits length. For more information
about installing your new vinyl railing, check out our Installation
Instructions.
3.) Once you know all of the necessary measurements, it's time to
choose the style of rail that you like. We offer 3 different rail
styles along with 2 different styles of pickets for you to choose
from. Choose the top rail and picket combination that you like best.
Here are the different styles that we offer:

4.) If you have round porch posts to attach the rail to, then you
need either the Royal
Rail or the Southern
Rail, and you will need to order curved brackets in addition to
your vinyl rail kit order. This will permit your railing system to
match up professionally to your round posts.
5.) If you are working with different angles around your porch or
deck, then we recommend the Southern
Rail or the Royal
Rail. In addition to your rail kit, you will need to
order
Adjustable Angle Brackets for the Southern
Rail or the Royal
Rail that will
allow the rail to angle from 22 to 45 degrees and anything
in between.
6.) If you are using line posts between your rail sections, we
suggest you use posts that are 2 inches taller than your rail height
for a clean and professional looking installation.
7.) When using an end post at the bottom of the stairs, we
suggest you order a 44 inch tall post. This will give you some
additional height to help deal with the rise and run of your normal
stairs and can be easily cut to the desired height.
8.) We have many different styles of Post Caps available for
purchase. When you are choosing Post
Caps, think in terms of the
style of your home. A Flat Cap has clean lines. The
New England Cap
and Skirt options add a little more distinction for example.
9.) You may have existing wooden posts on your porch or deck that
you want to match your new Vinyl Railing. For this we offer Post
Sleeves. One of the most popular post mounts is to sleeve an
existing 4"x4" wood post. If you want to use a
"richer" looking 5"x5" post sleeve, then we
recommend you build the 4"x4" post out with the lumber
that you can get locally, and then slide the sleeve over your post.
10.) Vinyl Rail Depot also has other post mount options available.
The EZ-Mount are
easy to use options that come with easy to follow instructions. We
also offer a Flange
Mount
which
assembles similarly to the EZ-Mount,
except you have to pour concrete around the flange and inside the
post. If you are hesitant
to use the concrete, the EZ-Mount is
a great alternative.
11.) Large shipments of railing will arrive by common carrier. The driver
for these truck lines is only required to get the load to the tailgate.
Some may assist in unloading, most will not. All the rail kits
are boxed for their protection but may be strapped to a pallet, which may
be too heavy
to unload by hand. In this case, you may wish to open the pallet
and unload the boxes separately. Unloading is the responsibility of the
purchaser.
12.) Most common carriers will stop at the residential curb and not enter
a lane or long drive. Unloading at the common carrier’s stop point
is the responsibility of the purchaser.
13.) Small shipments with short boxes usually arrive by UPS. Because these
are smaller and lighter boxes, these shipments are usually unloaded
by UPS from their truck.
