1.) Look for aluminum that is powder coated to AAMA2604 specifications. This will provide for a long life and beautiful product for many years of low maintenance.
2.) Determine your opening sizes. Aluminum kits are available in 4', 6', and 8' lengths. Line posts are available to connect rail kits together. Brackets are included with the rail kits at no extra charge.
3.) Round Column adapters are available for 8" round columns for an additional charge. This will provide for a professional looking installation to round columns.
4.) Aluminum posts can be used as end posts or line posts. They are typically positioned to be 1" taller than the rail.
5.) When using a post at the bottom of the stair you should order a longer post to give you additional height to deal with the rise and run of the stairs.
6.) Large shipments of railing will arrive by common carrier. The driver
for these truck lines is only required to get the load to the tailgate.
Some may assist in unloading, most will not. All the rail kits
are boxed for their protection but may be strapped to a pallet, which may
be too heavy
to unload by hand. In this case, you may wish to open the pallet
and unload the boxes separately. Unloading is the responsibility of the
purchaser.
7.) Most common carriers will stop at the residential curb and not enter
a lane or long drive. Unloading at the common carrier’s stop point
is the responsibility of the purchaser.
8.) Small shipments with short boxes usually arrive by UPS. Because these
are smaller and lighter boxes, these shipments are usually unloaded
by UPS from their truck.
